Why I’m here
I have a book forthcoming in the early spring of 2024. The title — Holding Grief: A Love Letter from a Recovering Death Denier. It’s a memoir with a sprinkle of self-help; an unconventional book about grief, the essays chronicle my honest and raw experiences of grief associated with death.
But grief and death aren’t the only things that I write about. I enjoy exploring different genres. such as poetry. And I like to make things- like things with my hands. And I want to share that.
1. So What Can You Expect?
My purpose is to share the stories that I keep telling over and over again. To entertain, to heal, to help, to remind, to encourage, to delight, to incite inspiration, reflection, and improvement. To share good stuff about travel, family, food, conversations, places, people, discoveries, and small unnoticed things.
2. A Note For My Readers
I hope my writings encourage you to explore what it means to live better, age better, grieve better, and die better. You might get some ideas- good ones, maybe. I hope you’ll feel restored, and if I’m lucky, you’ll keep reading.
Another note, I tend to write like I speak, sometimes clipped and not grammatically perfect. In this way, you hear my real voice when it’s written like that.
And I would love to hear from you! Please comment and write and tell me and the other readers what you’re thinking.
3. How Often Will I Post?
I hope to post once a week to start; likely in the middle of the week. And the subscriptions are free. We’ll see what comes in the future.
4. A Little About Me…
I’m a writer with a background in education and at heart, a teacher. With experiences in teaching kindergartners up through high school students, presenting and training teachers, to writing curricula, I understand learners coming at topics from diverse mindsets and viewpoints. When not writing or teaching, I love to travel, hang out with my family, volunteer for hospice, search for treasures in antique stores and watch baseball. I live in Bend, Oregon with my husband Tim. We have two children, two cats and one very spoiled Golden Retriever.
